Crumpets with Gurdeep Loyal

The latest in the Breakfast series is a conversation with Gurdeep Loyal over crab crumpets at his East London flat.

I’ve followed Gurdeep Loyal’s work for ages; both as a food writer  and via his Mother Tongue platform online and on instagram, which ‘celebrates food stories of migration, race, (in) authenticity and the Second Generation’. His debut cookbook, also called Mother Tongue and which is released this week, celebrates his heritage as a British Indian food writer and home cook and as Gurdeep himself puts it: “a descendant of Punjabi farmers and Leicester market traders.”

We talked about Pussyfoots, Two Fat Ladies, Breakfast ASMR and - of course - Mother Tongue (out now!)

And you can also listen to a short sweet taste of the interview on the Lecker main feed on your favourite podcast app or via the embed below.
